Happy Monday everyone! Today, we’ve got a pretty cool song for you all. It’s called “Verona”, and it’s by Geographer.

I really like the vocals in this track. Very calming and dreamy. Sounds really great during the chorus parts. 

I can also picture taking this groups vocals, and putting it to some folk/acoustic music. Maybe some Geographer acoustic? Just an idea that popped into my mind.

I also really dig the synths going on with the electronic beats. Makes you want to groove, which is always good for a Monday.

Beard Jams: Little Games by The Colourist

Hey everyone! How are we all doing? I worked a morning afternoon shift today, so my post is not terribly late today! (Sorry about the last few days. I made posts, but later on at night. If you have not done so, check out the older posts as well!) Todays song we have is called “Little Games.” It’s by a band named The Colourist.

The beginning is pretty neat. The electric guitar has some nice riffs going on. Really catchy to my ear. The male singer sounds really good on the verses. Then, the song goes into the chorus pretty fast. Here, the female vocalist comes in, and it sounds really great with the two singers singing together.

I also like the overall beat of this song. Very danceable and fun. I can imagine this song would be very fun to hear at a concert or festival.

Overall, I thought this was a great summer song. To me, it feels like that moment you get in the morning when you are about to embark on an epic road trip. Really cool things going on in this song.

Beard Jams: I Was Right by Black Light Dinner Party

Hey everyone! How’s it going? It was super hot here today. In addition, I got called in to work about three hours early. Anyways, none of that matters because today we have a new song from Black Light Dinner Party! It’s entitled, “I Was Right”.

While this track still has the classic Black Light Dinner Party feel to it, it’s a little bit more serious and laid back compared to other songs I have heard from them. However, don’t let that discourage you because there are still great things going on, and it’s still a fantastic track.

I’ve always loved the singers voice. It has a tone and quality to it that just makes me want to listen to it all day long. I would listen to him at any time in the day. He continues this excellent voice in this track as well.

There’s also great electronic sounds going on here as well. Lot’s of cool synths, echos, and a nice beat. What’s cool about this track is that, while the song is kind of serious, it still has a nice danceable beat it.

Overall, I really enjoyed this track. I’ve been a fan of Black Light Dinner Party for a while now, and this track just furthers my enjoyment of this band. Definitely check this one out and listen to it. Until next time, have fun and stay safe everyone!

Beard Jams: Jump In by Sol

Hey everyone?! How was everyones day? I worked for a good chunk of the day. It was fun, but I’m ready to listen to some music. Anyways, I thought I’d change it up a bit for this post. I have not posted a lot of Hip-hop songs, so thats what we have tonight. A nice hip-hop track entitled “Jump In”. It’s by an artist named Sol.

This song is pretty sweet. It has a very nice beat that goes along with the rapping. What’s unique about this track is the other sounds you hear in this song. We have a steady piano part throughout the song, and there is a part with a few horns!

I really like the singers voice. He has a good rapping voice. I can clearly understand what he is saying, which makes me enjoy what he is saying even more. It provides for maximum grooving to the song.

Overall, I really enjoyed this track. It has a nice hip hop beat, the rapping is good, and it has some unique elements to it as well. Check this one out, and see what you think! Take care everyone.

Beard Jams: Chiaroscuro by Sound Remedy

Hey everyone! Today we’ve got a nice, fresh track for everyone. It’s called “Chiaroscuro”, and it’s by Sound Remedy.

First of all, I didn’t know what “Chiaroscuro” meant, so I decided to look it up. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, Chiaroscuro means a “pictorial representation in terms of light and shade without regard to color.”

With music, we can’t exactly see a physical representation of the sound it creates. We can however, envision something. With this track, you can definitely hear a contrast between light and dark moments.

There are tons of electronic sounds I really enjoyed in this song. The lighter synths were very nice, as well as the more rougher, “dark” synth sounds. The climax of this song takes a break from the light nature and moves into a darker sounding hip hop beat, and then returning to light sounds again.
Going off of this whole light dark thing, it’s even apparent in the body of the song, and not just the sounds it uses. Intro and endings are lighter and more electronic, while the middle of the track is more hip-hop related.
Overall, I thought this was a very cool track, even without knowing what chiaroscuro meant. Lots of great sounds going on. Looking at this track with a comparison to the dictionary definition just made it that much better and interesting. A job well done by Sound Remedy.

Beard Jams: Strangers by Greyjoy

Hey everyone! How’s it going?! It is pretty hot here today. If you live on the east coast of the USA, you know what I’m talking about. Despite the heat, I got to watch some professional tennis today, so that was pretty cool. (Side note: The pros I watched really liked to swear). Anyways, we are not here to talk about tennis. We are here to talk about music! Todays song is called “Strangers”, and it’s by Greyjoy.

I really like the singers voice in this track. It’s pretty relaxing with a hint of haunting. Very chill, and very flowing. His voice is very fitting for this song.

Another thing I notice about this song is the use of synth. If you listen for them, there are some really cool synth lines going on. As a fan of good synth, it’s always nice to hear synth fit well into a song.

Beard Jams: Given the Chance by The Kite String Tangle

Good evening everyone! I’m back with another cool tune. It’s entitled, “Given the Chance”, and it’s by The Kite String Tangle.

Verses are really calm and chill. Really lets you focus on the singers voice and his words. Choruses are nice too. Some really cool electronic sounds come into play, making for another cool chorus part.

Towards the end, everything goes crazy. Even more electronic sounds, and what sounds like a babbling brook of awesome synth. (Say that 10 times fast). I like how the chorus goes crazy at the end. Part of the lyrics are, “Girl, you know i like you. Girl, you make me crazy.” To me, the end signifies the craziness in one’s emotions when they really like someone and they desperately want to tell that special someone. Very fitting ending to accompany the lyrics.

Overall, I thought this was a pretty sweet track. A great track for the evening. Check it out, and see what you think! Take care everyone.

Beard Jams: Something About You by We Are Scientists

Hey everyone! Happy Monday! (Well, as happy as it can be for being a Monday). Anyways, starting off this week with a new track from We Are Scientists entitled, “Something About You”.

The intro grabs my attention pretty fast. The drums, along with the guitar part, make me think of a sunrise on a beach. Just a calmness to it that everyone can enjoy. However, it’s not too calm. There are plenty moments to jam out to.

The singer is pretty awesome. I really like his phrasing on the choruses. When he holds out the word, “About”, in the chorus section, it’s really nice. Additionally, there are some great harmonies going on as well.

There is something really cool about the chorus as well. I love the idea that he is talking about, “Something About You”. You might think this would be a pretty calm thought, but I love how its surrounded in the chaos of the drums and guitar. I really enjoyed it.

Overall, this is a very solid track thats going to be stuck in my head all day today. Check this one out. Hit repeat. Fall in love. Share with friends. Until next time, have fun and stay safe everyone!

Beard Jams: Mason Jar by Smallpools

Hey everyone! How’s it going? Anyone do anything cool this weekend? I got my hair cut today, so that was exciting. Just in time too. It’s supposed to be in the 90’s here this week, with heavy humidity. Summer is definitely here. Anyways, another thing that goes along with summer is todays song. It’s entitled, “Mason Jar”, and it’s by a band named Smallpools! You may remember last time when their song “Dreaming” was featured on Musicbeards.

The intro is pretty cool. I like the drum fills that happen in the beginning. The electric guitar parts are nice as well. As soon as the verse starts, it instantly sounds like a summer classic. It’s so fun and light. I want to be outside at a festival partying to this song, or on a beach!

The group vocal parts are pretty nice as well. Going back to being at a festival, I can imagine thousands of people singing the “Ohhh’s”. The little break with the organs was a nice little break. I always admire when people can make an organ part sound good, and put it into a song in a creative way.

Overall, this track was great. Another great song from this band. Keep your eye on these guys. They are definitely going somewhere if they keep on putting out these fantastic songs. Check it out, and see what you think about it! Take care everyone.

Beard Jams: You Don’t Understand by Gramatik

Hey everyone! Happy Friday! Who’s doing something fun tonight?! I was supposed to go play tennis tonight, but it’s looking more and more like thats not going to happen. One thing I do know that will happen though, is a cool song on Musicbeards. Todays song is called, “You Don’t Understand”, and it’s by an artist named Gramatik.

This track is pretty unique. When I say unique, don’t be scared be that though. It’s a really cool, but different track. I really like this difference. The best way I can describe it is electronic music, mixed with blues. It’s pretty cool.

The beginning starts really bluesy, with subtle electronic influences. One the electronic beat comes in though, it feels like one big party. In my opinion, it goes pretty well together.

There is a section that is pure electronic as well. (Well, about 95% pure electronic).This is one of my favorite parts. So many different, and crazy things going on electronically. It’s a great one to groove to.

Overall, I think this track is very different, but executed very well. I certainly enjoyed listening to it, despite its differences. Check this one out! Fans of electronic and blues music should dig this. Until next time, have fun and stay safe everyone.

Beard jams: Raton Laveur (Radio Edit) by Robotaki

Hey everyone! How are we all doing today? I’ve got a song that you will all enjoy, despite what mood you are in. It’s called “Raton Laveur (Radio Edit)”, and it’s by an artist named Robotaki

The beginning is really cool. I enjoyed the keyboard/organ part. It’s a nice melody. Then as the song gets going, he starts adding more and more parts to the song. The synth part is really cool as well.

Once the song really gets going, it’s infectious. I completely started dancing and grooving, (No Shame). This is a great song if you need to get up and move.

This song reminds me of Daft Punk’s “One More Time”, or Teen Daze’s “Let’s Groove”. Has that party like, 80’s synth vibe to it. It’s a great dance/electronic track. It’s very fun, and light. Beard Jams: Friends by Eliza and the Bear

Hey everyone! Time for another nighttime post, because why not? This one is called “Friends”, and it’s by Eliza and the Bear.

I really dig the overall sound of this sound. The singer is nice. Has a good voice for this band. I also liked the harmonies and group vocals as well. The group “oh’s” were very nice.

The verses were pretty catchy. They definitely, and hopefully, will make you move a bit. The choruses were nice as well. Made me think of that moment some experience when they know they are truly loved and appreciated by friends and or family. Has that kind of proud, looking back on a memory type of vibe going on.

Overall, I thought this was a pretty sweet track. I danced a bit, and I think my beard grew a little bit. (Which is good cause I shaved it off today). Anyways, check this one out, and see what you think! Take care everyone.

Beard Jams: Time by Chad Male

Hey everyone! How’s it going? Todays song we have is called “Time”. It’s by Chad Male.

I really enjoy the beginning. The bass line paired with the drums sounds really nice. Automatically gets your head moving.

The chorus is a little different, but still good. Has a smooth feel to it. (I mean, you can’t actually touch a song… so it feels relaxed. Like I should pair it with dinner and wine).

There are also some nice harmonies going on every once in a while. The vocalist sounds pretty good. I really enjoy his emotion on the verses. Feels good.

Beard Jams: Homeless Romantic by Itch feat. Adam Lazzara

What’s up everyone?! I thought I’d come back with another cool song I heard while I was at Warped Tour. It’s called “Homeless Romantic”, and it’s by an artist named Itch. On this track, Taking Back Sundays lead singer Adam Lazzara also makes an appearance.

I like the intro with the drums. The verse continues this drum beat with Itch rapping over it. I really like his sound. Reminds me of a more poppy 360. (The artist 360, not the skateboard move). He sounds cool, relaxed, and chill. I can actually understand what he is saying too! That’s always a plus for me with hip hop/rap parts.

The pre-chorus and chorus are nice. The chorus goes hard. Pure rocking out time right here. I love Taking Back Sunday so having Adam Lazzara sing the chorus pleased my eardrums.

While I was at Warped, Itch was actually one of the first artists I watched. He was in a wheelchair because he shattered his ankle. On top of this, he was on heavy pain medication. Despite these rough conditions, Itch still went hard. He was very good. So much passion in his voice. When he was not rapping, he was playing a floor tom. I just admired how well he sounded even though he was hurt. Lots of respect for him.

Additionally, Adam Lazzara was not performing with him live, but the singer they had was good as well.

Overall, it’s a very cool track. I’m usually a little weary when hip hop and rock music combine, but I think they pulled this track off very nicely. It definitely made me move. They were really good at Warped as well.

Beard Jams: Goodnight Moon by Go Radio

Hey everyone! I’m back from Warped Tour! Let me tell you, it was amazing. Hanging with my best friend, seeing my favorite bands, it was simply amazing. One of the bands I watched at Warped this year was a band named Go Radio. This is their song entitled “Goodnight Moon”.

The intro is very gentle and delicate. The piano with the singers voice is just awesome. Once the singer gets to where he sings “Goodnight Moon, and goodnight you, when you’re all that I think about. All that I dream about. How’d I ever breathe without a goodnight kiss from goodnight you…” that’s where this song really starts to hit you right in your heart.

Everyone can relate to these lyrics. Even myself. I have someone that I think of all of the time, and they are even in my dreams from time to time. I’m always a sucker for anything that has to do with love. Hopeless romantic right here.

From the first chorus the song just keeps on picking up in intensity. With the increase of energy, it makes you sing the chorus that much louder and relate to the chorus that much more. It’s a beautiful song. That’s why I’m sharing this one today.

As I touched on a little bit earlier, this singer can sing. His quiet parts are warm and gentle. His bigger moments are so passionate, that you will get goosebumps. His voice, with the lyrics of this song, just make for one incredible song. You have to listen to this one. Anyone that loves music will truly appreciate this singers voice.

Beard Jams: Refresh by BLACKBIRD BLACKBIRD

Hey everyone! Happy 4th of July to you, for all of you in the United States! I’m going to be traveling this weekend, so my posts are going to be a little infrequent this weekend. I’m heading to NJ for the Vans Warped Tour! Anyways, the song I have right now is a fresh new track from Blackbird Blackbird. It’s entitled “Refresh”. It’s been awhile since we have listened to some electronic music. Let’s go!

Right away, the intro draws me in. With all of the beats, you can already tell something awesome is about to happen. The lead up to the drop is quite a thrill. I kept waiting, and waiting. Then, all of a sudden, there it was!

After a drop, it’s pretty cool. I feel like I’ve entered a rain cloud, and am just dancing around in the cloud. It’s more relaxed than the other parts, but it’s definitely the part that will make you bob your head the most.

Overall, this track is sweet. It’s so good in my opinion, I really do feel like my musical tastes have been “refreshed”. Great listen. Definitely check this one out. Take care.

Beard Jams: Curious by Harrison Hudson

Hey all of you little beard hairs out there. I’ve got a nice song for you all today. It’s called “Curious”, and it’s by Harrison Hudson.

One thing that draws me in to this song is the female backup vocals going, “Oh oh oh”. I seem to really like well executed oh’s and ah’s. 

The intro is also really cool. Makes me want to rock out right away. The drums along with the guitar sound pretty awesome.

The chorus has a nice quirky aspect to it. Has a great rock sound to jam out to.

The song makes me think of a Arctic Monkeys meets The Black Keys. Overall, I really enjoyed it. I kept wanting more after this song was over. It’s a short song, but very well done. Just makes you hit the replay button that much more.

Beard Jams: Don’t Follow by Residual

Hey everyone! It’s time for another evening music post. Nothing saids summer like multiple posts in one day! Anyways, I’ve got a pretty tasty jam for you all. It’s called “Don’t Follow”, and it’s by a band named Residual.

One thing I notice that I’m liking is the singers voice. Fits very well with this song. His falsetto sounds pretty nice. It’s definitely one of my favorite moments when he goes “Oooh oh ohhh”.

The chorus is pretty awesome. There is something that is so beautiful, but dark about it that makes it really nice in my opinion. All of the parts combined sound awesome. I really like the drum part in the chorus section. That bass drum fills up that space so nicely, that it just makes for a nice chorus to rock out to.

Beard Jams: Only One by Goldhouse

Hey cool people! What’s up? Today we have got a track entitled “Only One” by Goldhouse! Goldhouse is currently on the Vans Warped Tour lineup!

One thing I really like in this song is all of the different synths. The beginning synth sounds cool, and it helps set up the song. Synths in the verse help carry what the singer is singing about, and after the choruses the synth steps up and takes that role as storyteller. This synth that is just mentioned is very club like.

Another cool thing is the singer himself! He has a very nice range. Nice tone in his voice for this type of music. I’ve listened to Goldhouse before, and every time I hear him he sounds a little different. I don’t know if this is a good or bad thing, but it’s just something I’ve noticed.

Now you may be asking yourself, woah woah woah. This guy is playing Warped Tour? Indeed he is. If you’re a die hard alternative rock fan, this is probably bad news for you. However, I think it’s good that they are including more types of music. I’m personally excited to watch just as many pop acts at this years Warped Tour as I’m going to watch alternative rock acts. I think it’s also good to expose people at Warped Tour to new music. I don’t think it really hurts. We will all be there, enjoying some form of music in varying genres. That’s what it is really about. Having a good time, and supporting music and up and coming musicians.
