Beard Jams: Capybara by Farewell Continental

What’s up all of you cool people? Todays song is called “Capybara”, and it’s by a band called Farewell Continental.

This track is pretty sweet. Has a great indie/alternative rock sound to it. I absolutely love both of the singers voice. Sometimes, I notice when bands have a male and female singer, one tends to outshine the other. I also find that I’ll like one of the voices, but not the other. With this band, this is not the case. Both voices are absolutely beautiful!

With this song, the lyrics and the voices really carry this song. The rest of the parts are good as well, but this song showcases the vocals and lyrics more than anything else.

The song has a great sound. I’ve always been a fan of indie and alternative rock. I really like the chorus. Pretty awesome stuff. The voices, and the music gets stronger, and it’s really cool. Yes, a chorus does typically get stronger, but sometimes you just can’t jive with it. You’re not feeling it. You can’t groove to it. With this song and the chorus, I can jive with it. The whole song just makes me want to dance, which is always a good indicator of a good song.

Additionally, if the male voice sounds familiar, that’s because it is Motion City Soundtracks very own lead singer, Justin Pierre! I’ve always been a fan of Justin. From his voice, his lyrics, all the way to his hair. Awesome person. Farewell Continental is a side project that he is involved with when he is not doing things with Farewell Continental. Just because it is a side project though, does not mean this stuff is not good. It packs all of the indie/alternative rock that Motion City Soundtrack delivers, just with a different spin on things.

Don’t just take my word for it. Listen to it, and see what you think! Until next time, have fun and stay safe everyone!

Beard Jams: Racer by Giorgio Moroder

Welcome back! It’s pretty hot temperature wise where I am today…and I don’t like it. Additionally, where I am has the chance for severe thunderstorms today…another thing I don’t like. However, I do like todays song. It’s entitled, “Racer”, and it’s by Giorgio Moroder.

This track is pretty sweet. It’s a very nice electronic track. One thing that sticks out to me from this song is the melody/synth thing going on. It’s quite catchy. A little annoying at times, but still catchy. The song immediately starts off pretty strong with a nice drum beat and the melody.

Then a soft part comes in. I’m really digging this part. The piano sounds are pretty sweet. Then all of a sudden, the first loud section combines with the second quieter section! It’s pretty sweet.

With this track, I think of driving on a highway right after it has rained on a summer evening. Almost sounds like it could be in a racing movie or video game. It’s a nice track that is catchy, but kind of haunting at the same time.

Don’t just listen to me though, check it out and see what you think! Until next time, have fun and stay safe everyone.

Beard Jams: À tout à l’heure by Bibio

Hey everyone! How are you all? I’m doing pretty well. Chilling, and eating good food. Anyways, I’ve got a fresh pick for you all today. It’s called “À tout à l’heure”, and it’s by Bibio.

As always, I’m really digging this song. It sounds like I’m getting lost in a field in the summer time, in a foreign place. I’m liking the sitar in the song. (That’s probably why it feels foreign to me.) The sitar is present throughout the entire song, and it really makes the song. I really think that is what gives this song its summer, mystical vibe.

I really like when the vocals come in. In my opinion, the vocals give this song a modern flare. Very alternative indie pop vocals. However, the vocals are not present throughout the entire song. I like this though. It gives the listener a chance to imagine the picture being painted with the music. Then, once we have that picture, vocals come back in to keep everything crisp and fresh.

Also, this song just has a nice beat that goes along with everything!

This song just has good vibes all over it. Very danceable. It’s a tad different, but different can be great when done right. In this instance, it feels very right. Fantastic stuff.

Don’t just take my word for it, listen to it for yourself and see what you think! Take care everyone!

Beard Jams: Perfectly by Ryan Hemsworth

What’s up everyone?! I’m doing pretty well today. Allergies are under control for the moment, and I’m enjoying delicious food while I’m home. You know what else is delicious? Todays song! It’s called “Perfectly”. It’s by Ryan Hemsworth.

This is the second time Mr. Hemsworth has been on Musicbeards! This track is pretty cool. Very fitting for a Sunday afternoon. Feels very laid back. Just like Sunday afternoons.

I love the beginning when the female goes, “I hope it works this time.” From there, the song only gets better with a nice beat that will make you move your head along with it. I also love the occasional bell sounds you hear in the song as well. This song is a great listen on a relaxing kind of day.

It’s very laid back, and chill. Especially in the beginning. During the songs most involved moments, it’s danceable, but still relaxed. (How many times am I going to say relaxed before this is over with?)

Overall, I’m really digging this track. It feels very fitting for a overcast Sunday. I also feel like at times it has a celebratory kind of feel as well. So, to all of you cool college graduates, listen to this song!

Don’t just take my word for it though. Listen to it, and see what you think! Until next time, have fun and stay safe!

Beard Jams: Dreaming by Smallpools

Hey everyone! I’m officially done with finals, and I’m now back home! Being home is nice…except for allergies. Anyways, hopefully today’s song will help fight these allergies. It’s called “Dreaming.” It’s by a band from the U.S. called Smallpools.

Already I can tell this track is very summer like. It’s upbeat, and chock full of your daily dose of fun. The guitar part in the beginning is pretty cool. Definitely keeps me hooked into the song. Verses are pretty nice. Vocalist seems pretty good. The vocalist kind of reminds me of the lead singer from Passion Pit…a little bit.Chorus is very nice. Very energetic.

I can picture this song being a good song to perform live at a summer festival or show. Maximum dancing possibilities with this song. If you want your crowd to move along and dance, play and or perform this song.

Don’t just take my word for it though. See what you think! Until next time, have fun and stay safe everyone!

Beard Jams: Gasoline by Alpine

What’s up everyone?! How is everyones Monday? I have just started finals here at school…so much fun. It’s not that bad though cause I’m really prepared for all of my finals this year. Anyways, take a break from studying and or your job and check out this awesome song called “Gasoline”. It’s by a band named Alpine.

I just heard about this band last week. We received their cd at our radio station. It’s not released for another week in the USA, but I will say it’s amazing. Definitely check it out once it is released. (Side Note: This band is from Australia. If you are reading this in Australia or New Zealand, the CD is already released in these countries so you might already know how awesome it is. USA release is set for next week)

However, this group has released a single off of the album called “Gasoline”. I immediately fell in love with the song upon the first few notes. Voices are gentle and sweet, guitar is light and simple. Once the song picks up, it blossoms into this beautiful indie dance pop anthem. I can’t stop listening to it and dancing to it. I feel like the intensity of the song is just right. It’s not too light, but not too intense either. Really great stuff. It’s been an album I have been listening to while I study for finals.

Next, let’s take a quick look at the video, and I do mean quick. Video is very interesting. Very fitting for the song. Also, the singers are absolutely stunning. Both on a performing aspect and from a beauty aspect.

I’m really digging this song. This band has been my jam for the last few days now. It’s awesome, and I really hope that they play the CMJ Music Marathon festival in NYC this fall.

Don’t just take my word for it though. Listen to it, and see what you think! Have fun and stay safe everyone.

P.S. The posts will start becoming more frequent again later this week, and for the whole summer! Also be on the lookout for a Musicbeards facebook page this summer, along with some other cool things! Bye!

Beard Jams: Uh Oh! by Super Water Sympathy

Hi again! It’s been a busy time lately, hence the lack of posts. Finals are approaching next week for myself, so I’ve been busy doing papers and studying and whatnot. Anyways, I had some free time today so I decided to make another post. Todays song is called “Uh Oh!”, and it’s by a band called Super Water Sympathy

For a while now, I’ve been enjoying this song. However, I never made a post about it! It’s a pop song (Again, not top 40 pop), and its very nice. Feels very light at times. The vocalist is pretty good. She has a very intriguing voice. Shows a great deal of emotion during the song. Lyrics are alright. They fit for this song. Instrument wise, nothing out of the ordinary for pop, pop rock. Guitars, bass, piano, drums, etc. The band never does anything super great or amazing. This song is mainly to showcase the lyrics and the vocalist. Now that I think about it, I guess a lot of pop songs serve that purpose.

Despite that, I still think it’s a very good pop track. It’s been stuck in my head for quite a while. One of my favorite parts in the song is the very ending where she saids, “Soon we will be expired.” She saids it in such a soft spoken manner, just as if time expires, (Which, it does cause thats when the song ends). Even though it’s planned, it’s one of my favorite parts of the song. Maybe it’s just because that moment introduces something new. Overall, a very nice track.

Don’t just take my word for it though, check it out and see what you think! Take care everyone. Good luck to all the college students with finals coming up. To everyone else, have a fantastic day. Bye!

Beard Jams: Found You Out by Sir Sly

Hi Everyone! How’s it going? The last few days have been really tiring and interesting for me. This morning I woke up to a police officer knocking on my door telling me to get out of my dorm because there was a gas leak. That was fun.

You know what else is fun and cool?! Todays song! It’s called “Found You Out”. It’s by an artist named Sir Sly.

I’m really digging it. It starts off really chill, but as you progress through the song, everything starts intertwining with each other and it’s really cool. The singers voice is very folky, but the music sounds like modern folk combined with a chill indie rock. It’s really interesting, and I’m really liking it

As the song goes on, it captures more and more of your attention. I definitely recommend checking it out, especially if it’s kind of cold or cloudy where you currently are. It’s cloudy where I am.

Don’t just take my word for it though. Listen to it, and see what you think! Until next time, have fun and stay safe!

P.S. If you think there is a song I should feature on this blog, let me know! I like experiencing new music from other people as much as i like sharing my discoveries. Take care everyone!

Beard Jams: Escape by Neonfaith

What’s up everyone?! It’s friday! Hope everyone is gearing up for a stellar weekend! I get to see Highly Suspect this weekend, so I’m pretty pumped.

Anyways, todays song is entitled, “Escape”. It’s by a band called Neonfaith. They are from NYC!

This song in itself is complex, but so beautiful at the same time. I don’t mean complex as in the technical structure of the music, but rather I feel like I’m going through a story with this song.

The beginning really sets the tone, and hooks you in. It’s a cool little beat. Then it really starts to unfold and take shape.

The singers voice is quite amazing. It reminds me of a more jazzy/ blues version of the lead singer from Phantogram. Very enticing.

I like how this song starts off more upbeat than the beginning. I feel like most songs that I have heard lately have not done that, so it was a refreshing change.

The ending is nice. Just very laid back. Very nice chill electronic at the end.

Overall, this song is pretty cool. Don’t just take my word for it though. Check it out and see what you think! Have fun and stay safe everyone.

Beard Jams: Where I Left You by Man Overboard

What’s going on everyone?! Today’s Song is called “Where I Left You.” It’s by a band called Man Overboard.

I’m really digging this song. It does feel a little more generic then other songs I have heard from them. Despite that, I’m still loving the lyrics and the chorus

The chorus has that typical pop-punk feel to them. Since I like pop-punk, I’m digging it.

The music video is alright as well. I really like the beginning scenes where they are on top of the roof. I also like the ending scene with all of their friends.

The part in the video where they are playing the concert didn’t flatter me. I’ve watched live videos of them live, (And I’ve actually seen part of their set in person before), but this scene felt really posed. I know they have way more energy and emotion than what they showed in the concert scene.

Going back to the song however, it’s a pretty good song. It’s not the best song I’ve ever heard from them, but it’s still catchy. It still retains that pop-punk feel to it.

They have a new cd coming out on May 28th as well! Hopefully this single was just a teaser as to how awesome this album should be. All I ask for is that I can dance/sing/jam along to it.

Don’t just take my word for it though. See what you think and listen to it for yourself! Until next time, have fun and stay safe everyone.

Beard Jams: Afraid of Heights by Wavves

Welcome back everyone! Hopefully, everyone had a pretty awesome weekend. I know I did. You know what else is awesome?! Today’s song I want to share with you all.

It’s called “Afraid of Heights”, and it’s by a band called Wavves. If you have not heard this band yet, you are seriously missing out on some great alternative rock.

It has a great alt/grunge rock sound. At times they are compared to Weezer and Nirvana. From experience, they sound good sober, and great when you are pretty drunk. I don’t recommend getting drunk unless you are of legal drinking age in your respective countries.

I really like the lyrics in this song as well. Pretty simple thoughts one my have, but it works in this song. The chorus really resonates with me as well.

Overall, I’m really enjoying this song, and their whole album. Don’t just take my word for it as well. Listen to it, and see what you think! Take care everyone!

P.S. Shout out to meeting a cool person yesterday who knew I was in charge of this blog. Awesome stuff. Later!

Beard Jams: Phantasm feat. Nicole Miller by Cosmo’s Midnight.

Hello everyone! Today’s song I want to share is called “Phantasm”. It’s by an artist named, Cosmo’s Midnight.

This track is very nice. It instantly had my attention a few seconds into the the song. It sounds like trip-hop mixed with some chill glitch sounds, with some elements of Dubstep. It’s very interesting.

The song itself is pretty simple. That’s part of the beauty of this song however. It’s able to remain simple and chill, but still hold our attention.

The singer kind of reminds me of the singer from Phantogram. I love Phantogram, so that’s a cool little thing for me about this song.

Every time I listen to this song, I find some new sound embedded into the song. It’s like a musical surprise every time I have listened to this song.

I’m really digging this track today, especially since it’s cloudy, cold, and rainy where I am right now. It was 70 degrees yesterday, now it’s 40 degrees. Crazy.

Anyways, don’t just take my word for it. Listen to it, and see what you think! Until next time, have fun and stay safe everyone!

Beard Jams: Only In The Morning by The Venetia Fair

Welcome back everyone! Long time no see!

Before we start, I’d like to send my thoughts and prayers to everyone effected by the horrific events that took place in Boston, MA yesterday. Please take a moment of silence for the lives lost yesterday.

Thank You.

Today’s Song is called, “Only in the morning”. It’s by a band called The Venetia Fair. They are from Boston,MA. This is a song from their latest album. Interesting note about their newest album, it was funded by their supporters and fans on kickstarter! Very cool.

This song features a very mature sound from the band. Probably the most mature sound I have ever heard from this band. To be honest, I’m really liking the new mature song. It still has all of the characteristics of The Venetia Fair. A circus, adventure like sound to the verses and interludes. Great Vocals, and interesting lyrics.

This song, like other Venetia Fair songs, has a strong chorus. I’m really digging the chorus to this song. Really powerful. I imagine the lead singer looking into a thunderstorm while singing this song. That’s just my own vision of this song though.

I’ve always really liked the vocalist for this band as well. Very good. Such a huge range of notes that he can cover. He is very good at capturing an emotion he is trying to convey through his voice. Very emotional singer, which is something I always love to see.

Overall, this song is fantastic. I’m also really digging their new album as well. If you get the chance to see them live, I definitely recommend doing so. I have not seen them live since their last ep, but I have seen them perform two times. Each time, it was a wonderful experience. In fact, I’ve actually enjoyed their live shows better than their recordings. When you see them live, you really see how much emotion is behind this music.

Don’t just take my word for it though. Listen to it for yourself, and see what you think of it! Until next time, have fun and stay safe everyone.

Beard Video Jams: Fight Lose Stand by The Skies Revolt

Hello once again! Welcome back friends, and people that may be reading this for the very first time! Todays song is called Fight Lose Stand by The Skies Revolt. We have had this band featured on this site before, and they are an awesome band so they more than deserve the post for today. They are making lyric videos, and this one today turned out super awesome.

This song is really nice. The beginning “La La La” section will be stuck in your head all day. I’m 99 percent sure of that last statement. It’s a beautiful pop-punk song.

Beginning really hooks you in, verses set up for the chorus section, and then you get to the chorus and it’s an awesome feeling once everything in this song comes together.

I’ve had this song stuck in my head all day. I don’t find that as a bad thing either. If something is super good, and I’m enjoying it, I’m perfectly fine having that tune stuck in my head for that day.

Don’t just take my word for it though, give it a listen and see what you think! Take care everyone.

Beard Jams: Yes Yes by The Colourist

Welcome back everyone! Happy Tuesday!….oh man, it’s only Tuesday!?! Well, here is a cool track that feels like it fits on a Tuesday. It’s called “Yes Yes”, and it’s by a band called The Colourist. This track is very nice. Very fun. I really dig the female/ male vocal combo. Some really nice harmonies going on. I’m currently dancing to this track as I’m writing this. Listen to it, and maybe dance while you’re at it. See what you think of it! Until next time, have fun and stay safe everyone!

Beard Jams: White Lies by Max Frost

Welcome back everyone! Happy Thursday. I hope everyones week has been awesome. Mine has been hectic, but thats life. Anyways, today’s song is called “White Lies”, and it’s by Max Frost.

This is a really cool song. Has a really nice modern pop sound to it. It sounds like how pop should be. Catchy, but repetitive so we can sing along and get it stuck in our head. This has got to be the most fun sounding song I have ever heard about someone lying, but I find that in itself pretty cool.

I really dig the little passing synth notes as well. I think thats what gives me the impression that it is a modern pop song, or what modern pop should sound like. This song does not sound like a top 40 song.

I’m also really digging the voice as well. Distant, and kind of sad, but strong enough to carry on in the song. (I may be stretching that a bit, but that’s what came in my mind).

Anyways, don’t just take my word for it. See what you think! Have fun and stay safe everyone. See you tomorrow.

Beard Jams: Bound To Let You Go by Wild Adriatic

Hello everyone! Quick post today. Today’s song is called “Bound To Let You Go”, and it’s by a band named Wild Adriatic. It’s a nice change from all of the electronic music that is popular today. It has a great rock/blues sound. The singer is stellar! Such an awesome range of his voice is displayed in this song. Additionally, the lyrics are amazing. Everyone relates to these lyrics. I have been lucky enough to see this band live a few times. If you get the chance, go see them. They are out of this world when they play live. I’ve got to talk with the band on numerous accounts as well. We have established that their drummer is a future version of myself. Great people, and they produce some great music. Definitely check them out. Take care everyone.

Beard Jams: As We Strive by TwOs

Hello everyone! Hope all is well. I’m anxiously awaiting a phone call about an interview I had last week. Fingers crossed. In the meantime, here is a track that might chill you and I out. It’s called “As We Strive”, and it’s by TwOs. I found this track the other night, and I have been enjoying it ever sense.

Beginning is a little different, but once the beat comes in it is beautiful. Reminds me of Phantogram minus the female vocals. There are a few female vocals at the beginning, but then it’s a male vocal the rest of the way. I wished they had included more of the female vocal, but it’s still an awesome song.

If you need to take a break, or have something on your mind you need to think about, this song is for you. I enjoyed this track very much. Don’t just take my word for it though, listen to it for yourself, and see what you think! Have fun and stay safe everyone!

Beard Jams: Another Day by Carousel

Happy Monday everyone! Back to the old grind, which for me is classes upon classes and exams…not fun. Anyways, something that is fun is this track I would like to share with you all for today! It’s called “Another Day”, and it’s by Carousel. I suppose the song matches the bands name. It’s light, fun, and will get stuck in your head causing you to sing this over and over again. The beat is very nice. Relaxed, but still has a groove to it. There are also piano/keyboard notes that get played on the off beats. The singers voice is nice and relaxing as well, which just fits perfectly into this song. I could see someone listening to this while watching the sunrise, or even getting ready in the morning. It’s a nice little song, but don’t just take my word for it. Check it out, and see what you think of it! Have fun and stay safe everyone.

Beard Jams: Proto by Ryan Hemsworth

Welcome back everyone, and a happy Saturday as well. Todays song is called “Proto”, and it’s by an artist called Ryan Hemsworth. It’s a really nice track. It’s pretty short in length however. I don’t know if this is just a demo of the song, or the actual song. Either way, it’s enjoyable. Has a nice hip-hop/trip-hop feel to it. The beginning is pretty awesome too. Chords from horns start it off, and then after a few chords, the beat drops. It’s pretty cool. I enjoyed this track. See what you think, and listen to it for yourself! Thanks for reading, and take care.
