Beard Jams: Sunrays by Catching Flies

Welcome back everyone, and happy friday! You made it another week. Congratulations. Today’s song I want to share is called “Sunrays”, and it’s by a producer named Catching Flies. This is one of the most chill tracks I have come across in a long time. Even though it’s relaxed, that does not mean that it is awesome, because it is. The song slowly advances, but keeps the same feeling throughout. It’s a very nice track to do some thinking to, do some studying, or even after a late night of drinking, (It is Friday after all!). While this track is good, if you listen to the whole ep all the way through, the songs mesh together quite nicely. The ep is available on the artists bandcamp page. Beard Jams: Luminous Blue by Last Lynx

Happy Thursday all of you cool folks out there. Today’s song I would like to share is called “Luminous Blue”, and it’s by a band called Last Lynx. This track is very cool. It is laid back, but has a lot of energy at the same time. I guess the best way to describe it would be a curious cat walking around on a winter day, (It works?). The beginning is lovely. The signature sound in this song is two electronic beeps, and then the band comes in. When they do come in, it’s an alternative wave of sound that enters into your ears. Vocals are really nice as well, especially the beginning harmonies. If you’re like me, and really enjoy vocal harmonies put into a song, then you will really like this track. The song feels very dream like and cold to me. Overall, I really enjoyed it. However, don’t just take my scatterbrained response for this song. Listen to it, and see what you think! Take care!

Beard Jams: Random Access Memories by Daft Punk remixed by WarholaFAKE

Happy Wednesday everyone! We are that much closer to the weekend! Anyways, today’s song I would like to present to all of you lovely folks, is called “Random Access Memories”. It’s originally by Daft Punk, but I will be talking about a remixed version by WarholaFAKE. Now, I’m not typically one for remixes. I always feel like it’s kind of redundant as to what they do. More bass here, synth here, blah. But on a rare occasion, I hear a remix I really like. Such is the case with today’s song. It has a very nice feel to it. Very spring like, with a sense of a fresh beginning. Has a strong STRFKR sound to it, which I really dig. I really like how it’s still the same song, but has guitars in it, and feels different. I like this. Maybe I just listen to bad remixes a lot of the time which makes me dislike them. I don’t know. I do know I am enjoying this song. Check it out for yourself and see what you think! Beard Jams: If So by Atlas Genius

Hello everyone! Today’s track is called “If So”, and it’s by a band called Atlas Genius. This track has a nice sound to it. Kind of reminds me of a more mature, serious version of the band Walk The Moon. This track starts off pretty energized. The chorus just adds on to this energized feeling. Vocals are really nice as well. There are also some nice melodies going on. Not too many, but when there are harmonies it fits, and sounds good. Welcome back everyone! Today’s song is called “Happy”. It’s by Robert DeLong. It’s pretty good. The beginning synth melody will hook you into the song. When it does hook you in, that melody will be stuck in your head for quite a while. Sometimes having a melody stuck in your head is good. Other times it is not. Take your pick. This song is also very danceable. If it does not at least make you want to move your head, then you might need to re-evaluate your life choices. Anyways, I’m digging this lately. The name definitely fits the song. I feel like I am in outer space listening to this song. I guess you can kind of think of it as a dreamy electronic hip hop beat, border line trip hop in my opinion. Beard Jams: “Older Together” by Black Light Dinner Party

Hello once again! I’m back with some more cool music I have been enjoying lately. This one is called Older Together by Black Light Dinner Party. I’m really enjoying it. It’s a nice alternative pop/ synth/chill pop song. One of my favorite things about this song is the singers voice. Very nice for this type of music. Kind of distant, but really comforting. The music has a nice groove to it as well. I picture listening to this just chilling at a small party, having a few drinks, and cuddling with someone that catches your eye. Hello! Long time, no see….

Hello everyone! Yes, I’m still alive and doing well. I have just been super busy. Sorry about that. I definitely will pick back up with this in the summer, and next week when I have spring break. Anyways, wanted to thank you guys for all of your support. Additionally, I am the General Manager at 90.3fm WAIH, “The Way” at SUNY Potsdam, and we just got our online feed up and running after not having it for over a year. Beard Jams: Teardrop Windows by Benjamin Gibbard

Hey Everyone! Welcome back! It’s been a while since I made a post, so I figured I would do one today! The song I have to share is called, “Teardrop Windows”, by Benjamin Gibbard. It’s a nice song. Very gentle, but still enjoyable. It’s a nice song for the weather I’m experiencing today. It’s currently snowing where I am, and it’s expected to bring us 3-6 inches of snow today. Anyways, back to the song. I feel like this song would be an awesome song to just go out and drive to in the country. Has a modern folk feel to it. If the voice sounds familiar, that’s because this is the solo project of the singer from Death Cab for Cutie, and the Postal Service. It’s nice to see a different side/ sound to Benjamin Gibbard. Hello everyone! Todays song is called, “To My Sunshine”, and it’s by Animal Flag. It’s a bit of a sad song, but I’m really enjoying it in the early morning hours. I guess it also sets up my mood regarding the weather where I live. A few days ago we got around six inches of snow, and today it’s raining and it’s 53 degrees, so the snow is all gone. Anyways, back to the song, it’s a really simple song, with some strong and powerful lyrics. I love how the song is simple, and does not change a whole lot, yet it still keeps my attention. Beard Jams: Running For Cover by Ivan & Alyosha

Happy Thursday everyone! First of all, sorry that there was no post yesterday. I got extremely busy, and by the time I had some free time, it was much too late for a post. In lieu of that, I will not be posting on Wednesdays for a while. Anyways, todays song is called, “Running for cover”, and it’s by Ivan & Alyosha. This is a really nice alternative folk track. Has a nice feel to it, guitars and all instruments for that matter all sounded very nice. Simple, but sometimes less is more. Even though it’s simple, it carries your interest throughout the whole song. Vocals were amazing! Harmonies were out of this world! Very reminiscent of Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and Good Ol’ War. What’s up everyone?!? Todays song is called, “Atlantis”, by STRFKR (Starf***er). It’s a very nice track. It feels like a nice dance/ alt pop track for late winter and early spring. It feels fresh, crisp. It’s fun, and it’s pretty catchy. The beat is nice. It’s not too flamboyant. Feels just right for the song. The singers voice fits well for this song as well. Lyrics are nice, especially the chorus. A lot of people can relate to the lyrics of the chorus. The song can be a little repetitive, but I think it’s appropriate. I mean, when you are talking about falling in love, I don’t think you can talk too much about it. It’s an exciting time falling in love, and when it happens, it’s all you talk about. Anyways, I’m back today with a song called, “Solace”, and it’s by an artist known as f y f e. This track is pretty sweet. In my opinion, it’s hauntingly beautiful. It has a certain aspect to it that just makes it haunting. Possibly the lyrics….I’m going to go with the lyrics make it haunting, but the music adds the beautiful part to it. In this song, the artist reminded me of a Benjamin Gibbard/ Death Cab For Cutie. It also reminded me the strokes if they were super chilled out. See what you think of the track, and enjoy! Beard Jams: Two FIngers by Jake Bugg

What’s going on everyone? Todays song is called, “Two Fingers”, and it’s by Jake Bugg. Very cool, and chill song. I had heard of Jake Bugg before, but never had really listened to his stuff before. Then last night came around, and as I was watching Conan, (Conan O’Brien), Jake Bugg was the musical act on his show. He performed this very song, and I was like, that was pretty cool! I guess he is only 18 years old? Very cool, and good for him! Anyways, the song is acoustic folk like. It’s repetitive, but it works for this song. It has a certain sway to it where you just want to keep listening to it. This song feels very spring like to me. To bad it is winter where I am. Oh well. The song reminds me of an acoustic take of The Vines, and kind of has a modern Beatles vibe to it if that makes sense. Anyways, listen to it for yourself and see what you think!

Welcome back everyone! Todays song is a blend of dreamy, atmospheric alternative rock. It’s entitled, “Beautiful Dream”, and it’s by Fever Fever. Excellent song. Beginning is very light, and very crisp. Almost has a alternative folk sound in the beginning. Lyrics are very nice in this song. I enjoyed how the beginning was light and dream like because it gets you to focus on the lyrics. Through the music, it expands on the idea of this beautiful dream. Song wraps up very nicely at the end. This is were the alternative rock sound comes about. Reminded me almost of an Angels and Airwaves sound. Very nice song. Check it out, and see what you think!

Beard Jams: Shiver Shiver by Walk The Moon

Hello once again! Todays song I decided to go with is called, “Shiver Shiver”, by Walk The Moon. When this album first came out, I was really into it. Listening to it non-stop, for a few weeks before I had to listen to something else. Shiver Shiver has to be one of my favorite songs on the album. It’s definitely one of the lesser known songs on the album. I love the lyrics in this song, and the groove. Bass line is very catchy and addictive as well. You cannot help but dance when you listen to this. If you listen to this without the urge to dance, you might want to re-evaluate your life choices. Anyways, have fun, and stay safe.
