Beard Jams: Language Is Over Acoustic by Little Comets

Happy Sunday everyone! Today I’m switching it up a little bit with a slower, but equally as awesome song. It’s entitled, “Language Is Over Acoustic”, by Little Comets. I only discovered this gem of a song today. It’s very fitting for a Sunday. I’ve always felt like Sundays are for relaxing, and peeling away everything that went wrong in our lives the week before. I believe this song fits this perfectly. The singers voice is magical. So beautiful, and it fits this song perfectly. The piano part is pretty good as well. I’ve always been a sucker for good songs that are just piano and voice. See what you think of the song for yourself! Have fun, and stay safe everyone.

Beard Jams: Not Your Fault by AWOLNATION

How is everyones Saturday? I’m enjoying it with some awesome music, and trying to do screen printing. It’s my first time at it. So far, so good. Anyways, todays song is entitled, “Not Your Fault”, by AWOLNATION. For some reason, the chorus of this song just makes me want to jump up and down, and go crazy. Just pure moments of rocking out. The lyrics are also really good in this song as well. I think the singer carries this song, and is what makes it so good. Overall, a very nice song. Check it out, and see how you like it! Have fun, and stay safe everyone!

Beard Jams: Last One You Love by GOLDHOUSE

What’s up everyone?! Today’s song is entitled, “Last One You Love”, by GOLDHOUSE. This song is very fitting for a friday night. The song is very danceable, and catchy. In my opinion, this should be more of what top 40 music consists of. If you are listening to this by yourself, you will be dancing by the end of this song. If you are with a group of people, you will be dancing to this song pretty quickly. Great beat, great lyrics, great stuff. See what you think for yourself, and enjoy the night! Have fun, and stay safe!

Beard Jams: In My Eyes by MitiS

Todays post is a song entitled, “In My Eyes” by MitiS. This artist classifies it as love-step, and I think that is a perfect description of his music. This track has the elements of a dubstep track, but it feels very light and dreamy. I guess I also envision this track to be the embodiment of what dubstep and electronic artists dream of in their sleep. In addition, this artist offers some free downloads of his tracks, with the song, “In my eyes”, being one of them! Check it out, and see what you think of it! Until next time, have fun and stay safe!

Beard Jams: Don’t Move by Phantogram

Todays song is Don’t Move by Phantogram. It’s a tasty blend of Alternative pop/ trip hop. I discovered these guys when I went to see the band perform at a show. They are pretty awesome live, and the lead singer is just as stunning in person as she is in this video. Also, these people are awesome just by themselves as well. The show I went to was an outdoor show, and it was pouring rain. Despite the bad weather, when they were done performing, they stood out in the rain talking with people, and taking pictures with everyone that wanted to have a picture with them. Awesome people, and some awesome music. Lyrics are great, the music is great, everything about them is great. When you listen to them, you just have the urge to dance along and move with them. Check them out, and dance along with them.

Beard Jams: Oceancrest by My Body Sings Electric

Todays delivery is a delicious blend of Alt/ indie rock. It’s entitled, “Oceancrest”, and its by a band called My Body Sings Electric. This track picks up right where the last album ended. It’s the same type of sound as “Changing Color”, but this track has a more mature sound to it. I really enjoy the bass lines in this song, very nice groove to move to. I’ve really enjoyed how they structure their songs as well. You can tell this band puts in a lot of hard work, but has a lot of fun at the same time. I’ve enjoyed them since I heard their last album, and I hope you will enjoy them too! Check it out, and see what you think!

As always, if you like what I’m doing, like and share the blog! Let’s get people to discover new, awesome music. Let’s show people there is more to music then top 40 hits. Until next time, have fun and stay safe!

Beard Jams: It’s All In The Reflexes by The Skies Revolt

Happy Monday everyone! Today’s song is entitled, “It’s All In The Reflexes”, by The Skies Revolt. These guys have a nice sound to them. I’ll describe it as quirky alternative rock/pop-rock. They have a sound that reminds me a lot of Motion City Soundtrack. I discovered these guys last fall with their “Making Moves Ep”, (Which is an ep collection curated by Motion City Soundtrack. Go check them out). I really liked the ep, and listened to it over and over again for a few weeks straight. I was sad however because they played a show by my hometown while I was away at school, and I found out they played by my house a month after the fact. I was really annoyed with myself, especially since where I’m from does not get a lot of good bands, (Hoping to change that myself in the future). Anyways, if you like Alternative rock with some added quirky, check these guys out.

Beard Jams: Beach by San Cisco

Today’s song is Beach by San Cisco. I’ve been a fan of San Cisco since early 2012. Their ep entitled, “Awkward”, was awesome. So much fun energy put into an ep! Anyways, this is a new song of their latest ep that is out in the UK and Ireland. (Come on release in USA). This song is very different from any of their songs I have heard by them. However, despite the difference in style and tempo, I still really like this song. At first I was like, “Wait, it does not sound fun, and dance like! What happened?!?!”, but the more I listened to it, the more I liked it. San Cisco has proved they can produce up tempo music, as well as down tempo music that is still really good. Check it out for yourself! Enjoy!

Beard Jams: Mezzanine by Shields

Today we look at a song called, “Mezzanine”, by Shields. This track is very alternative pop. It reminds me a lot of a band called Walk The Moon. Very cool stuff, very danceable. If top 40 music turned into this type of music, It would be awesome. For now though, I’ll enjoy this track just for myself, and for those of you reading this! Check it out, and see what you think! I’m really digging the bright sock puppets for the music video as well.

Again, if you like what I’m doing, share the blog! Like this post! Read some other posts of mine! I really appreciate all the likes and blog views I have received over the past couple of days. Thank you for being awesome, and listening to good music! Until next time, have fun, and stay safe!

Beard Jams: Money by The Drums

Todays song I want to share is called, “Money”, by The Drums. I just recently got into The Drums, and I’m really digging them. It’s a very chill song, but it’s so danceable. The guitar riff is repetitive, but it really makes this song. It’s one of those songs that is repetitive in a good way. This song has been stuck in my head for a few days now, and I’m loving every minute of it. Check it out, and see what you think of it! As always, feel free to like the post, and share this with your friends!

Beard Jams: Breezeblocks by Alt-J

Woohoo! We made it to 2013! Took a little break for the holidays, but I’m back sharing some cool music. Speaking of cool music, the track I have today is called, “Breezebocks” by Alt-J. I really like this song, and his album is pretty good as well, but for some reason I just like listening to the tracks by themselves, rather then listen to the whole album all the way through. I have no idea why this is, but this is the case. Anyways, the track is pretty sweet. The parts by themselves would be boring to listen to, but when it’s combined with all of the other parts, it makes for some pretty sweet music. Take a listen, and see what you think!

Additionally, best wishes to everyone for 2013. I know 2012 was a pretty intense year for me. Filled with extreme highs, but also some extreme lows. Here’s to hoping 2013 is excellent, and puts out some fantastic music along the way.

P.s, if you like what I’m doing, feel free to share the blog, and follow the blog as well! Many thanks to everyone that has already done this.

Top 10 Beard Albums of 2012!

I know, you’re probably thinking to yourself, not another 2012 countdown list! I’m sorry. I’ve never done one before, so I want to add to the cliche nature of the end of the year. Anyways, 2012 brought me some great music. I think I’ve listened to more music than ever before, plus I went to the most concerts I have ever attended this year as well. This post is going to focus on the albums I enjoyed the most that were released in 2012. However, If you’re curious, the best concert I went to this year was the Vans Warped Tour. I’ve always wanted to go, and finally got a chance to go this summer. One of the best days of my life hands down. I think I would say it was the best day I had in 2012.

Anyways, let’s get to the countdown. Let’s look at number 10 on my list

10) Too Bright To Hide It- Night Fevers

This was a pretty cool album. I got turned on to Night Fevers in 2010 when I watched them play live in NYC for the CMJ Music Marathon. They are awesome live. Each member of the band has an amazing energy on stage, and it makes for a fun time. Too Bright To Hide It is their latest release, and a good on at that. I feel like it’s a more mature sound from them as opposed to their self titled album. I enjoyed listening to it. Check it out for yourself!

9) The Matter- Faded Paper Figures

Another very cool album that I just got turned on to a few months ago. Extremely catchy music. Great electronic riffs mixed with a bit of indie rock. Cool synths as well. (I’m a sucker for good synths, I can’t help it). Check it out!

8) Aht Uh Yo Hed- Dave Hammer’s Power Supply

I listened to Dave Hammer’s Power Supply for the first time in 2011. Needless to say, I’ve been a fan ever since. I really admire the great blend of Jazz and Indie Rock they bring to their music. It’s ear candy, that’s what it is. It’s also even better if you have coffee and a beard while listening to this album. Check out their website!

7) Go- Motion City Soundtrack

For the people that know me, they know how big of a Motion City Soundtrack fan I am. I go absolutely nuts for their music. It’s all so good, and the lyrics always resonate within me. That being said, this album was alright. Had some good tracks I was really digging and enjoying. However there were other tracks on this album that were ok, but nothing special about them. Despite this, it’s still a solid release from Motion City Soundtrack. If you’re looking for a “Commit This To Memory” sound, this album has a tad of that sound, but not a lot. To be honest, I don’t think there will ever be another release that sounds super close to Commit This To Memory. Go is a much more mature sound. Sure, it sounds different from previous releases, but I still enjoyed it. This band absolutely deserves more recognition. Check them out!

6) Tiger Talk- Yukon Blonde

I was super into this album when I got my hands on it. It’s a very good album, and the tracks flowed together very nicely. This was my first time listening to Yukon Blonde, and I’m definitely a fan now. Great, catchy riffs. Pretty good lyrics. I really enjoyed this album. Check them out!

5) Symbolyst- Lymbyc Systym

This album was very refreshing. It’s a brother duo based out of NYC. It’s instrumental music, but good instrumental music. You know sometimes when you listen to music, and it’s instrumental, you’re like, “This would be fantastic, if it had lyrics!”. Not the case with Lymbyc Systym. I think if they had lyrics, it might ruin their music. Their music definitely creates a vivid picture in your mind, and keeps your interest throughout the songs. Great album. Listen to it!

4) Making Moves EP- The Skies Revolt

This was the fifth installment of the making moves ep series. It was a very cool idea. It was a ep set that was curated by Motion City Soundtrack, and produced by Drexel University. This particular one focuses on a band called The Skies Revolt. Great music. Instantly fell in love with their music. Definitely music you can jam out to, and it’s beautifully bad. By this I mean they have moments in the music where it may seem a bit strange, but it’s that strangeness that makes it beautiful. Check this band out, I can’t wait for more releases from them

3) Walk The Moon- Walk The Moon

This album was a perfect soundtrack to my summer. Very danceable, and enjoyable music. I had listened to their “Anna Sun EP” when it had come out, and I really enjoyed it. Once the album came out in the summer, I was in love with it! Great pop-rock mixed with electronic elements. I’ve yet to see them perform live, but they look like they put on a great and fun show. Check them out!

2) Lock And Key- Wild Adriatic

Absolutely awesome music. So much passion in their music, especially live. I actually watched them perform two times this year, and it was a fantastic show. They are from Saratoga Springs, NY, and are really making a name for themselves. Great blend of rock and soul. It’s refreshing to know music like this exists when the electronic scene is the current trend. Keep your eye on these guys, they will be big in the next few years.

1) Lightning- Matt and Kim

Fantastic album from Matt and Kim! Perfect blend between their last two albums “Grand”, and “Sidewalks”. They get back to more of a “Grand” sound with just drums and keyboard, and they place the special effects in at the right times. So quirky, wonderful, and just great indie pop. Keyboard parts are awesome, drum parts are awesome, just the album as a whole is awesome! Had a chance to see them perform live this year. They are excellent live. So much energy, and the music sounds just as good as it does on the album. Listen to this over and over again.

Beard Jams: “You Make Me Feel Good” by Satin Jackets

I discovered this track a few months ago while I was just searching for new music. I remember liking this track more and more as the song goes on. In the beginning you’re like, ok, this is cool. Then, as the song continues on, you just find yourself more and more into it, dancing wherever you are at that moment. This song is another chill, electronic track that keeps you energized and wanting more. See what you think of it, and give it a listen!

Beard Jams: “Eyes Forward” by Lymbyc Systym

Hello everyone! Since this is the first post of this blog, it’s going to be a bit introductory, sorry. Basically, Musicbeards is a blog I wanted to do that looks at awesome music, with an emphasis on new music. However, old music will come up from time to time. You may be asking, where the heck did you come up with the name? Honestly, I don’t know. It just popped into my head. I like music, I have a beard, combine the two and we have Musicbeards. Additionally, I’m going to try and give all my posts a beard theme. Beard jams for example will feature a track I’m currently enjoying.

For the first Beard Jams, let’s begin with a song entitled, “Eyes Forward” by Lymbyc Systym. It’s a cool song, and pretty laid back. Despite the laid back nature of the song, it’s catchy and enjoyable. I really enjoy the electric piano parts as well. When I listen to this song, I feel like I should be walking outside enjoying coffee on an autumn day. Give the track a listen and see for yourself!
