Beard Beats: “A is For Alpine” by Alpine

What’s up everyone? Today, I’m excited to bring you a new installment to the Musicbeards blog. It’s called: Beard Beats. Let me explain the difference real quick about Beard Jams versus Beard Beats.

Beard Jams are just tracks of songs I like. It only features 1 track at a time. Beard Beats will feature a whole album. In other terms, it’s an album review. Woohoo! It will feature both new and old albums.

Beard Beats will happen every once in a while. It will not be a constant thing like Beard Jams. That being said, let’s look at our first album! It’s entitled “A is for Alpine”, by Alpine!

First, I’ll take you through each track, and then give an overall impression. I promise, I’ll be brief on what each track means to me.

“Lovers 1”: Awesome build up. Great intro track to the album

“Lovers 2”: Getting pretty serious, but still playful. Just like lovers.

“Hands”: Love the chorus. First track of the album that really made me dance

“Villages”: A little bit different from the earlier tracks, but still awesome. Nice vocals going on.

“Softsides”: Great intro. Love the voices, love the percussion parts. Guitar is interesting in a good way.

“Seeing Red”: Love the opening lyrics. Another major danceable track. Nice varying styles in the  song.

“Gasoline”: One of my favorite songs on the album. Interesting comparison; Gasoline in your heart.

“All for One”: Very chill. Very interesting. Very nice.

“Too Safe”: Nice guitar part. It’s a very interesting moment when you think you’re falling out of love, when really you are just getting used to your lover. Cool idea for a song.

“In the Wild”: Bass and Cowbell. In the wild, that’s all you need… bad pun is bad. All puns aside, I enjoyed this track

“The Vigour”: Good things happening, but it feels like the album is winding down. Energy is kind of dwindling.

“Multiplication”: Final track is kind of an energetic sleepy. Fitting since it’s the last track.

Overall, I really enjoyed this album. Everything sounds so fresh and crisp to me in this album. I absolutely love the two female singers. Great voices, and they sound great paired together. Music is fun at times, with a strong emphasis on love. Love is cool, so that didn’t bother me. The more upbeat songs were my favorite, but I enjoyed all of the tracks. Some songs felt like they could have used a little more emotion in them. Felt a little stale after “In the Wild”. This album helped me get through finals week. It has a great sound to it. Very interesting stuff happening in this album. I’m definitely a fan of them now. I’m excited to see what the future holds for them. I’m really hoping I get to see them play in the U.S.A. I’m also hoping they play the CMJ Music Marathon in NYC this October.

I give this album a 8.5/10. However, number ratings by themselves are kind of boring. SO! Let’s compare the number rating to a beard. I would say an 8.5 is a nice, full, luscious lumberjack beard. A very nice beard indeed.

Check out this album, and see what you think! Take care everyone.
